How to improve your posture. Posture braces for improving posture and back pain relief.

Posture correction brace

Have you ever thought to yourself:

“My back aches when I sit at the computer.”
“I can’t get rid of my gut.”
“I have low energy and don’t feel as confident as I used to.”
“I try to remind myself to sit and stand up straight, but just can’t.”
“After long periods sitting at a computer, my neck is stiff and I get frequent headaches.”
“I’m embarrassed by my posture in social situations, but don’t know what to do about it.”

Many people suffer from the long-term effects of working at a computer, reading, nursing a baby, driving or other activities that promote poor posture. One of the long-term effects is characterized by a forward slump caused by overuse of the pectoral and scalene muscles of the body. The posture support brace adds support to the body and protects the body from further damage. A supportive posture brace secures above your waist and wraps around the shoulders and in turn pulls in the belly and brings the shoulders back.

Retraining Muscles

Using a supportive posture brace, even for a short period of time, will begin the retraining of postural supportive muscle in the neck and back. This will help to alleviate the need for and dependence upon the brace itself.

Relieving Pan

Wearing a corrective posture support also may relieve the back pain associated with everyday work habits such as sitting at a desk and slumping forward in a chair to read material. The posture brace will remind your body to hold your shoulders back and your spine erect and within the proper alignment curve of the neck. This proper posturing aligns the areas of the neck and back to help avoid unnecessary muscle strain and back pain.

Improving Appearance

As the back posture becomes increasingly better with the postural support, so does your personal appearance. By sitting up straight at a desk, you can burn more calories at the center core of your body. Long-term relief from pain and tired back muscles shows over a period of time with less strain and less fatigue.

Focus on good posture.

  • Try not to slouch when sitting or standing.
  • Sit up straight with your back against the back of your chair and your feet flat on the floor. Keep your knees slightly higher than your hips.
  • Stand tall with your head up and shoulders back.

Encouraging Posture

Adding an exercise regime to the schedule also will encourage proper posture of the spine and remind you of the brace you are wearing. This in turn will encourage good posture. Wearing the brace for 30-minute periods five times a day will make a difference. Falling back into old habits such as slumping over is easy and should be avoided. Wearing the brace for long periods and forgetting about it will cause the person to go back to the bad habit of slumping over.

Types of posture correction braces

Other posture correction bracesSmall Back Bands

There are a variety of very small posture correction braces that measure just a few inches from top to bottom. They are virtually unnoticeable under clothing and operate by gently pulling back your shoulders to help correct your body form. While users generally agree that this type of corrective posture brace is effective there are some complaints about discomfort in relation to the elastic straps.

Mid Back Styles

For those who are uninterested in a full length form of posture support that extends to the small of your back, a middle of the road style might be best. While both men and women can use these braces, men can measure their chest directly but women should measure below the bust to ensure that these posture supports will fit.

Whole Back Designs

For those with more serious posture issues or back pain, a full length back brace is the best option. While this type of posture corrective brace is slightly more noticeable under clothing, the amount of support it will offer is much higher. Florida Orthopedics offers a soft form back brace to correct posture in a variety of sizes for around $35. These shoulder posture aids keep the shoulders back and also stabilize your abs and lumbar areas for maximum posture improvement.

Our Favorite Posture Corrector. Posture Now Review.

Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Lane Franklin LLC is a fitness products company whose sole focus is the development of products to improve posture and promote better back health. Lane Franklin LLC manufactures and markets the innovative PostureNOW product, which was developed to address the lack of posture improvement products that acutally work, and work permanently. Traditional posture braces do all the work for the user, pulling their shoulders back, which can actually weaken back muscles and in turn, worsen one’s posture. The PostureNOW posture corrector, on the other hand, provides a gentle reminder to keep arms and shoulders in correct position, using one’s own back muscles to maintain correct posture, strengthening and training those muscles for permanent posture improvement.

Before After Posture Correction WomenBefore After Posture Correction MenPostureNOW (patent pending) is a revolutionary posture corrector that works for men and women of all ages. Worn in as little as 10 minutes a day, the PostureNOW brace permanently corrects posture that has worsened over time, especially as a result of years spent slouching at a computer. PostureNOW is comprised of two comfortable neoprene armbands, connected by an adjustable elastic tension band. PostureNOW posture brace can be worn for short periods of time, rather than continually, as with other posture correctors. PostureNOW achieves the desired result of improved posture by providing a gentle reminder to keep shoulders back and back straight, under the power of the user’s own back muscles. When users are in correct posture position, there is little tension on the adjustable elastic tension band. When users begin to slouch, the tension increases, which reminds the user to resume good posture. This trains and strengthens the back muscles vital for good posture.

Other posture braces are unattractive, cumbersome, uncomfortable, expensive and difficult to use. They rely on uncomfortable over-the-shoulder straps, which pull the shoulders back under the sensitive armpit area, leading to chafing and constricted circulation. PostureNOW is the only posture brace that is sleek, affordable, comfortable, and easy to use. It is the only posture corrector that is worn on the arms, rather than over the shoulders.

Traditional posture braces do the work for you, forcing your shoulders back, which can actually weaken back muscles, potentially worsening your posture. With the PostureNOW posture corrective brace, consumers use their own back muscles to stay in correct posture, which strengthens and trains the muscles, leading to long-term improvement in posture.

PostureNow reviewWell, it really works! It’s pretty simple, I know, but muscle memory is the foundation of good back posture and PostureNOW is helping me to develop and maintain the habit of good posture. It’s funny: I’ll wear it for a while in the morning when I’m on the treadmill, then I won’t wear it again until the following day. But I’m subconsciously reminded to keep myself in proper position throughout the day.I’m still using it (though I’m finding that I need it less and less over time), and my posture really has improved. At the same time, I’m experiencing less back and neck pain, which is a fantastic added bonus.

Great product, I agree. I am a work at home mom, so most of the time, if I’m not sitting at my computer I’m carrying babies around. I am just too busy with other things to think about sitting up straight or pulling my shoulders back and I was really starting to hunch. This has been a godsend for me. I am seeing great improvement in my posture. My family even commented on it at Thanksgiving dinner. So now, I’ve bought a PostureNow for most of my family 🙂
To anyone who is in doubt I say – give it a go, you won’t be sorry! I had tried other posture correction braces but this is the one that did it for me.

  • Steve says:

I like the PostureNOW a lot. I bought one for myself and one for my wife. She is a lot more regular about wearing it than I am, but we’ve both improved our posture from using it. I’ve had back pain for years, mainly from working at a desk for all of my career. But a couple weeks after starting to use the PostureNOW I noticed my back didn’t hurt as much and I didn’t wake up with a sore neck anymore. Long story short, my wife and I both love the product and even though it’s really simple (why didn’t I think of it myself??) we deffinitely recommend it to our friends.

  • Health Director says:

I have seen this product produce some outstanding results both with patients and non-patients. I recommend it every time someone asks about posture correction.

If it doesn’t work, then that means the person is in need of a more serious medical intervention and a posture brace is not enough.

  • Mark T says:

My chiropractor recommended this to me and I’ve been using it for about a month now. All I can say is ‘wow’! I knew that my bad posture was causing a lot of back and neck pain for me, but I had no idea that improving my posture would help me as much as it has. I wear my PostureNOW for about a half hour, in the mornings when I take a walk on the treadmill and the difference has been amazing. My pain has decreased by 90% at least, and I’ve also just felt better and more energetic in general. Highly recommended!!! 5 Stars!!!

  • FloridaDaisy says:

I love my PostureNOW! I’m a 66 year old woman and the older I get, the more I slouch. PostureNOW helps remind me to keep my shoulders back and my back straight. It’s simple, but it really works great for me. If I could get my grandkids to use this, I certainly would!
