Nail FungusSymptoms of Nail Fungus

You may have a nail fungal infection — also called onychomycosis (on-i-ko-mi-KO-sis) — if one or more of your nails are:
* Thickened
* Brittle, crumbly or ragged
* Distorted in shape
* Dull, with no luster or shine
* A dark color, caused by debris, is building up under your nail.

Infected nails may also separate from the nail bed, a condition called onycholysis. You may even feel pain in your toes or fingertips and detect a slightly foul odor.

Causes of Nail Fungus

Fungi are microscopic organisms that don’t need sunlight to survive. Some fungi have beneficial uses, while others cause illness and infection.

Nail fungal infections are typically caused by a fungus that belongs to a group of fungi called dermatophytes. But yeasts and molds also can be responsible for nail fungal infections.

All of these microscopic organisms live in warm, moist environments, including swimming pools and showers. They can invade your skin through tiny invisible cuts or through a small separation between your nail and nail bed. They cause problems only if your nails are continually exposed to warmth and moisture — conditions perfect for the growth and spread of fungi.

Infection with nail fungus occurs more in toenails than in fingernails because toenails are often confined in a dark, warm, moist environment inside your shoes — where fungi can thrive. Another reason may be the diminished blood circulation to the toes as compared with the fingers, which makes it harder for your body’s immune system to detect and eliminate the infection.

Nail Fungus Complications

Nail fungal infections can be painful and may cause permanent damage to your nails. They may also lead to other serious infections that can spread beyond your feet if you have a suppressed immune system due to medication, diabetes or other conditions.

Fungal infections of the nail pose the most serious health risk for people with diabetes and for those with weakened immune systems, such as people with leukemia, AIDS or those who’ve had an organ transplant. If you have diabetes, your blood circulation and the nerve supply to your feet can become impaired. You’re also at greater risk for cellulitis, a potentially serious bacterial skin infection. Therefore, any relatively minor injury to your feet — including a nail fungal infection — can lead to a more serious complication, requiring timely medical care.

Nail Fungus Treatment.

As you may well already know, most nail fungus treatments are ineffective. Going to your doctor will result in one of two prescriptions and nail fungus treatments:
– oral medication
– topical treatment.

Medline Plus at the National Institute of Health says:

“Over-the-counter creams and ointments generally do not help treat this condition.

Prescription antifungal medicines taken by mouth may help clear the fungus in about 50% of patients. However, such medicines can cause side effects or may interfere with other medications. Some of the oral medications used to treat fungal infections of the nail can harm the liver.

In some cases, the health care provider may remove the nail. Nails grow slowly. Even if treatment is successful, a new, clearer nail may take up to a year to grow in.”

Zeta Clear Before and After

Ingredients in Zetaclear Nail Fungus Relief Homeopathic Spray

Antimonium Curdum 200C: Used to treat painful sensibility of the skin under the nails, and slow growth of the nails themselves. Also treats horny growths on and under the nails and discoloration.

Arsenicum Album 200C: Used to treat discolored nails, as well as skin conditions and warts.

Mancinella 30C: From the milk of the Caribbean manchineel tree (Hippomane mancinella) mancinella is effective against bluish discoloration of fingernails and burning, tingling and dryness in soles of feet.

Nitricum Acidum 30C: Also used to treat chilblains, Nitricum relieves cramp-like pains, stinging or shooting pains, burning, pressure, and soreness. Also effective in treating profuse sweating of hands and feet, rough skin on hands and white spots on nails.

Sulphur 12X: Has antiseptic and antipsoric (anti-itch) poperties. Used for centuries to treat various fevers and illnesses, Sulphur has also been used for nail ulcers, swelling and inflammation of points of fingers, painful corns, and hot, itchy feet.

Thuja Occidentalis 200C (Arbor Vitæ): Useful in reducing warts, hangnails, brittle, soft or crumbling nails, and chilblains on toes.

Inactive Ingredients: Alcohol 20% v/v, Purified water.

Apply a small amount of ZetaClear Nail Gel to the center of the nail, spread gel around the nail with the applicator tip. Apply additional gel under the tip of the nail if possible, then immediately cover nail with a waterproof or regular bandaid. Don’t remove the bandaid until you next bathe or shower. After bathing, dry nail well, reapply the gel and a new bandaid and continue this process, rather than the twice-daily applications and no bandaid. The bandaid will keep the gel moist on the nail around the clock permitting faster results.

Be careful that the bandaid doesn’t move or slide around the toe. If this occurs, replace with a new bandaid after applying more gel.

Be sure to scrape out any softened keratin debris every other day from under the thickened part of your nail and gently sand the flat surface of your nail with an emery board once or twice a week.

Look for improvement in your nail’s appearance in about 4 weeks. Nails will look better as the keratin debris is broken down and softened by the gel.

ZetaClear Nail Fungus Treatment

Ingredients in Zetaclear Clear Nails Solution

The ingredients of any product is important for your health.

Tea Tree Oil

Since before recorded history, the aboriginals of Australia have used tea made from the leaves of the Melaleuca tree to help promote healthy skin. This is how the name “tea tree” came to be.

Today, it is prepared commercially by steam distillation of the leaves. Tea tree oil contains constituents called terpenoids, which help promote healthy nails.

Wikipedia states “Tea tree oil has been recognized as a potent antiseptic in Australia anecdotally for much longer than there has been scientific evidence. However, recent studies support a role for tea tree oil in skin care.”

Tea tree oil should not be put into the mouth or swallowed. Keep out of reach of children. Even small amounts taken internally can cause severe rash, abdominal pain, diarrhea, lethargy, drowsiness, inflammation of the corners of the mouth, slow or uneven walking, confusion or coma.

The tea tree oil in Zetaclear Solution is diluted with carrier oils to prevent skin rash or irritation. Pregnant and nursing mothers should consult with their health professional before using.

Almond Oil

Humans have had a long and happy relationship with almonds since 3000-2000 BC. In fact, almonds were found in Tutankhamen’s tomb (C. 1325 BC) in Egypt.

The almond is a small, deciduous tree growing about four to nine meters high. In the spring it blooms with beautiful pink or white flowers before the leaves appear. Although native to Southwest Asia, it can grow and ripen fruit as far north as the British Isles.

Sweet almond oil is used topically to moisturize dry skin, soothe chapped lips, and relieve itching due to dryness. It’s not greasy and is absorbed quickly. It generally does not irritate skin and does not appear to cause sensitization that many lead to allergic reactions.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba is a shrub native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico. For centuries Native Americans used the oil from the precious jojoba seeds to promote skin health.

The seed, about the size of a black olive, is almost 50% oil. Chemically, the oil is very similar to human sebum (the oil we naturally secrete from our skin glands), which is useful to prevent moisture loss from our skin.

Jojoba oil has been in commercial production since 1970. It is used primarily, at this time, for skin care.

Because of its very high flash point, research is being done into the possibility of using jojoba oil as a source of fuel.

Vitamin E Oil

*Vitamin E is a well-known antioxidant. When it is applied topically, your body absorbs it.

Vitamin E oil is often used to reduce the appearance of scars and blemishes, but at this time, research is inconclusive.

Lemongrass Oil

If you like Asian food, you’ve probably eaten lemongrass. It’s used in curry dishes, sauces, soups, and to flavor tea. It’s also used in baked breads, and candy. Lemongrass is used in perfumery, and as soothing aromatherapy.

One common use of lemongrass, also called citronella, is in candles to discourage mosquitoes.

Undecylenic Acid

Undecylenic acid is an organic fatty acid derived from natural castor oil.

Uundecylenic acid is thought to promote healty skin.

Clove Oil

Cloves were grandmother’s old remedy for toothache, and in fact, cloves are a natural analgesic, and oil of cloves is used by some dentists today.
