Get Ugly for a Good Cause
Ninth annual Ugly Disco benefits Golisano Children’s Hospital

On Feb. 25, the ninth annual Ugly Disco will take everything bad and ugly from the ‘70s and turn it into something good. All proceeds from this year’s party benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center.

The event highlights live music by far-out bands like Fever, the Skycoasters, Barry Williams (who played Greg Brady in the original “Brady Bunch” TV show) and all the top radio hits of the ‘70s. The party goes from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Participants are encouraged to wear their best polyester suit and other psychedelic garb from the late ‘70s.

“The people at the children’s hospital are great to work with, and it’s easy for people around the community to recognize the hospital and its importance to the community,” said Alan Wood, one of the event’s organizers. This is the first year the event has raised money for Golisano Children’s Hospital.

This year’s benefit will support the Supportive Care Program and the Bright Eyes Fund, both headed up by David Korones, M.D., a pediatric oncologist at Golisano Children’s Hospital. The Supportive Care Program provides support for family and friends of patients and helps patients through a traumatic illness. The Bright Eyes Fund helps fund research and diagnostic efforts for pediatric brain tumors.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster, all Wegmans locations and Murphy’s Law, located at 370 East Ave. in Rochester. Tickets include 10 drink tickets, which can be used toward wine, beer, mixed drinks, water and soda. VIP admission can be purchased for $125 and includes a pre-party at 7 p.m. For more information, visit www.uglydisco.com

This groovy event is not one to miss. Can you dig it?
