The Hairmax Lasercomb has been around for quite a while now. We have researched what people are saying and can finally tell you if it works or not.

But first, lets start with how the Hairmax laser comb works.

Laser Treatments to Induce Hair Growth

In 1964, Professor Andre Mester began experimenting with the use of low-power laser energy in Budapest, Hungary.

In his experiments with wound treatment on mice, he noticed rapid healing due to microcirculation of blood supply. This healing was also obvious in Laser Hair Rejuvenation treatment of diabetic patients suffering with dystrophic sores.

This theory through its evolution has since been refined and is widely becoming one of the most popular non-invasive hair loss treatments.

FDA clinical trials of a similar product gave the following results:

  • An IRB pre-approved clinical trial with oversight was performed.
  • Each subject received a total of 36 20-minute treatments over 18 weeks.
  • Results were reviewed at 10-weeks (20 treatments) and 18-weeks (36 treatments) levels.
  • After 20 treatments (10 weeks) 92% of subjects had increased hair counts of >+10% with 57% demonstrating an increase of 30%.
  • 98% of subjects indicated a medically-significant stabilization of rate of hair loss.
  • After 36 treatments , 97% of subjects had an increased hair count of >+ 20%. A total of 89% of all subjects demonstrated an increased hair count of >+30%, with 57% demonstrating an increased hair count of >+50%.

The Benefits of Laser Hair Therapy Treatment

* Increases the blood supply to the scalp by 54% after only one treatment.
* Stimulates hair follicles.
* Stops the progression of hair loss in 85% of patients.
* Increased hair strength and elasticity.
* Fuller, shinier, softer, thicker hair.
* For Post Operative Transplant surgery, laser treatments have been shown to help newly transplanted hair to thrive and increases the healing process.
* Repairs damage normally caused by chemical services.
* Delivers light energy directly from different positions without loss of light properties to insure appropriate dosage.

FDA CLEARANCE vs. FDA APPROVAL

The FDA generally ‘Approves’ drugs and ‘Clears’ devices for marketing with an ‘indication of use’.  Many of the hand-held lasers on the market claim that they can achieve comparable results to the HairMax LaserComb, but without the patented hair parting ‘teeth’ of the HairMax LaserComb, the laser energy of their devices may not be able to reach the scalp since they do not part the hair on application.

As a consumer, we suggest that you educate yourself thoroughly before making a purchase or utilizing a hand-held laser device for hair growth. It is important to remember that the Hairmax LaserComb is presently the only device on the market with proven efficacy, has gone through the rigorous process of gaining FDA clearance to market, and is subject to stringent manufacturing regulations as part of this clearance. When considering the purchase of any other device, consider the fact that the results of the Hairmax LaserComb are proven and that NO other laser products now on the market, can make this claim.

Remember! All hand-held laser photo therapy devices are NOT the same and that no other presently marketed device has the clinically proven results of the HairMax LaserComb nor the patented device that maximizes laser energy delivery to the scalp.

How Does the Hairmax lasercomb work?

Before learning how the Hairmax Lasercomb works to reinvigorate hair growth, it is important to understand how hair grows. Each strand of hair on your scalp consists of a hair shaft, which is visible above the skin, and a hair root, which resides in a hair follicle beneath the skin surface. Projecting into the base of each hair follicle and hair root is a structure called the dermal papilla, which is composed of rapidly dividing cells. These cells pack together in the hair follicle, forming the hair shaft. Hair grows in a three phase cycle. In an initial phase, known as anagen, the hair is actively growing in the hair follicle. During a transitional phase, known as catagen, the hair follicle retracts and pulls away from the dermal papilla, causing the hair to stop growing. In a final resting phase, known as telogen, the hair follicle remains inactive. As the anagen phase begins again in the following cycle, the old hair shaft is often pushed out by the new hair as it grows.

Individuals experience pattern baldness when their hair follicles begin to miniaturize. As hair follicles miniaturize, the new hair shafts they produce become progressively smaller and finer with each successive hair cycle. Eventually, some hair follicles become too miniaturized and weak to generate hair, and fall into a dormant state. Follicles can remain in a dormant state a few years until ultimately they stop producing hair. The HairMax LaserComb successfully stimulates hair follicles to reverse the miniaturization process, returning small, fine hairs to healthy, normal-sized hairs. It has also been shown to stimulate dormant follicles, restoring their productivity.

The Hairmax Lasercomb stimulates miniaturized hair follicles with nourishing laser light energy. A laser concentrates light waves of a specific wavelength into a coherent beam of monochromatic light. Humans can see a range of energy as colored light, known as the visible light spectrum. The HairMax emits low-energy light from the red portion of this spectrum, which has been hypothesized to increase blood circulation, promote cellular activity, and reverse the natural breakdown of cells, which is known as apoptosis. Hair follicles subject to increased blood circulation receive more nutrients and eliminate more waste, thus promoting healthier hair. It is believed that cells treated with the HairMax convert the emitted light energy to adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a molecule that provides cells with usable energy. As extra ATP is produced and more energy becomes available to cells, cellular activity increases. Cells use the increased energy to rebuild miniaturized hair follicles, creating a healthy environment for hair production.

Here are some independent customer reviews of Hairmax we found on the web:

Hairmax Laser comb reviewI say go for it if you have the money. Has worked great for me.

Hairmax Laser comb review

Short answer is no regrowth yet but improved the quality of my hair greatly, far less fallout in shower, grows faster. If there is going to be actual re-growth, I’d say it will happen in the next 10 weeks or so. Otherwise it is just a good product for overall health.

I use it 3x pe week, and for as long as an hour. I try to keep it on the thinning-est areas about 8-10 minutes, the other areas 2-5. That is about 2x what Aculas recommends in their brochure, but that is for 3joules, and my understanding is that 3-6joules are recommended for hairloss so I went the upper range.

Look at it this way; in the spas you sit under a helmet for 20-30 minutes so each area is getting that amount of time. Guessing those are 100mw lasers so seems to me 8-10 mins is a good compromise.

Hairmax Laser comb review
I’ve been losing my hair for quite awhile….slowly.
Now, the crown of my head has lost all of its hair, and the front is thinning now.
I was going to get transplants.
However, I then got into a very bad car accident, and all money went to a new vehicle.
When I heard the comb was approved by the FDA, I called the company, and they were completely sold out.
I plunked down the money and got the comb.
It has been working for me! Seriously!
It may not work for everyone, but the thinning hair in front is thicker and growing back. Even the crown is starting to show life of small hairs regrowing. It’s not been long enough to see how things will end up, but it truly makes MY scalp feel better, has stopped the hair from falling out, and I truly, and unbelievably so, have seen regrowth!
Then again, though I must stress again that it may not work for everyone, I’m happy to see actual results. I’m shocked!
I’m looking forward to the weeks ahead to see what may happen.
If all else has failed, you may want to give the laser comb a try.
I’m really glad I’m doing so!
Good luck to all.

[excerpt] So I kept using it. From mid July til now, mid Sept, I’d say that it clearly shows good re-grow of the hair, the crown hair has thicken and I could see many baby hair were there too. Very thrilled about the result, didn’t think it actually works!! I’ll keep using it until my comb dies, then I’ll buy another one! Another tip is sulfate free shampoo, I highly recommend you guys start using sulfate free shampoo, just use any brand, doesn’t matter. Sulfate really kills your hair.

Oh one thing I forgot to mention is that Hairmax also made my hair looks healthy from day-one, that was also one of the reasons why i kept using it even the shedding occurred.

So the conclusion is, it took about 6 months for the hairmax comb to work on me, so if yours doesn’t seem to work for you in the first 2-3 months, or even 5,6 months, KEEP USING IT. THe result wasn’t crazily good like the before/after pictures shown on their website, but it is certainly good enough to keep me a happy customer and I’ll certainly keep using it!

Hairmax Laser comb review
So now, nearly three months later, I can see that it is working. I even showed my husband yesterday. Both of us can definitely see a lot of short (maybe 1 cm or so) length hairs sticking up out of my scalp in the area of treatment. Obviously this is really encouraging! I am going to continue to use it and hope for even more but I’m cautiously optimistic. It did take quite a while to work so you have to be patient.
Hairmax Laser comb review
I’m 30 years of age and tried many medications from herbal to rogane without any help and the side effects were troublesome. Anyway, once hairmax was approved by FDA, I gave it a try. It’s been 4 months that I’m using it. For Thanks Giving I visited my sisters whom haven’t seen me in one year. They were shocked by the change in the my hair. The good thing is Hairmax doesn’t irritate the scalp.

I used this product following some hair loss due to hormonal changes following the birth of my daughter. The results are great. I have to say that my hair looks better and fuller than ever.
