University Taps Senior Fundraiser to Lead Medical Center Advancement Effort

Frank Interlichia

Frank Interlichia has been appointed as Senior Associate Vice President for Advancement at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). For an interim period, Frank will also continue as Associate Vice President for University Advancement, overseeing Leadership Gifts, Regional Advancement, University Annual Fund and University Corporate Relations.

Interlichia earned an undergraduate degree from St. John Fisher College and a Master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. Prior to joining the University of Rochester, he held positions in communications or development at Chicago’s LaRabida Children’s Hospital, St. Margaret’s Hospital for Women in Boston, Nazareth College, and Rochester Institute of Technology.

Interlichia has been with the University of Rochester for 11 years, six of which he served as Senior Director and one as Assistant Vice President of Medical Center Development. In 2007, he moved to University-wide Advancement to launch the Regional Advancement Program, and has built a highly successful program for major and leadership giving.  In that role, he continued to raise six- and seven-figure gifts for the Medical Center and maintains active relationships with many Medical Center donors.

“An excellent manager and tenacious problem-solver, Frank is respected by leadership, colleagues, and donors throughout the University. He also understands how academic medicine appeals to donors, and he is skilled at matching the needs of an institution and its faculty with the interests of philanthropists,” said Medical Center CEO Bradford C. Berk, M.D., Ph.D.

“I share the confidence of the Medical Center and Advancement leadership teams that Frank is the right person to take Medical Center Advancement to a new level,” said Jim Thompson, senior vice president and chief advancement officer for the University of Rochester. “Brad and I look forward to working with Frank on a coordinated effort during this key period leading to the public phase of the University’s comprehensive advancement campaign.”
